When Conventional Implant Treatment Is Not Enough

Bone loss and complex anatomy do not lead to one standard solution. Ramos Dental evaluates reconstructive, anatomical and full-arch pathways according to each patient's clinical and 3D findings.

Understand the possibilities

Four Levels of Advanced Implant Planning

These levels organize the types of procedures that may be discussed after an individual examination. They are educational categories, not a diagnosis or treatment recommendation.

Level 01

Advanced Bone & Sinus Reconstruction

When there is not enough bone, selected reconstructive techniques may rebuild, expand or strategically modify the existing ridge to create a foundation for implant treatment.

  • Sinus lift · lateral-window or transcrestal approach
  • Horizontal bone regeneration
  • Vertical bone regeneration
  • Bone block grafting
  • Ridge split or ridge expansion
  • Corticotomies
01

The problem

Insufficient ridge width, height or posterior upper-jaw bone can limit conventional implant positioning.

02

The advanced solution

After clinical and 3D evaluation, a surgeon may consider sinus elevation, guided regeneration, block grafting, ridge expansion or other reconstructive techniques.

03

Treatment objective

The objective is to create or preserve an appropriate anatomical foundation for a carefully planned implant restoration.

Two different approaches

Sinus Elevation Is Selected Around Your Anatomy

A transcrestal approach and a lateral-window approach are different clinical pathways. The approach is selected according to available anatomy and treatment needs.

Real clinical case

Transcrestal Sinus Lift + Dental Implant

The two radiographs document chronological stages of one supplied clinical case. They are presented without diagnostic cropping or image enhancement.

Educational presentation only. These images do not diagnose another patient or predict a treatment result. Publication remains subject to documented consent, desidentification and confirmation of the follow-up date.

Level 02

Advanced Anatomical Implantology

Advanced techniques may use deep anatomical anchorage or carefully managed anatomical structures when conventional implant placement is limited.

  • Pterygoid implants
  • Inferior alveolar nerve lateralization or transposition
01

The problem

Severe posterior bone loss or the position of important anatomical structures can restrict conventional implant placement.

02

The advanced solution

Selected patients may be evaluated for pterygoid anchorage or inferior alveolar nerve lateralization or transposition.

03

Treatment objective

The objective is to plan stable implant support while accounting for the patient's anatomy and the risks of the proposed procedure.

Level 03

Severe Maxillary Atrophy Solutions

Advanced implant solutions may be considered for selected patients with severe upper-jaw bone loss when conventional anchorage is not available.

  • Zygomatic implants
  • Quad Zygoma
  • Hybrid zygomatic and conventional implant reconstruction
01

The problem

Severe upper-jaw atrophy may leave insufficient conventional bone for a standard implant configuration.

02

The advanced solution

Depending on 3D findings, the discussion may include zygomatic, quad-zygoma or hybrid zygomatic and conventional implant reconstruction.

03

Treatment objective

The objective is to identify an appropriate anchorage strategy for a coordinated surgical and prosthetic plan.

Level 04

Complex Full-Arch Rehabilitation

Surgical and prosthetic planning are coordinated to rebuild an entire arch with fixed implant-supported teeth in complex cases.

  • Complex All-on-4
  • Complex All-on-6
  • Immediate full-arch rehabilitation
  • Advanced full-mouth implant reconstruction
01

The problem

A failing dentition, previous treatment, bone loss and restorative demands can make a full-arch case more complex than a standard protocol.

02

The advanced solution

The number, position and type of implants are selected through coordinated surgical, restorative and digital planning.

03

Treatment objective

The objective is a maintainable, functional full-arch restoration designed around the patient's anatomy and treatment needs.

Plan before you travel

Advanced Treatment Begins With Review, Not a Package

International patients can start by sharing the information they already have. A remote review is preliminary and does not replace an in-person examination.

  1. 01

    Submit your case

Share clear dental photographs and describe what you would like to improve.

  2. 02

    Include available imaging

Send recent X-rays or CBCT imaging if you already have it; do not obtain new imaging solely for the form unless advised.

  3. 03

    Discuss possible pathways

The team can explain which options may merit an in-person clinical and 3D evaluation.

  4. 04

    Plan the visit

Once next steps are clearer, use the verified travel information to prepare for Nuevo Progreso.

Start with your anatomy

Submit Your Case for a Preliminary Review

Send your photographs or available imaging and tell us about previous recommendations. Ramos Dental can help you understand which pathways may be appropriate to evaluate before you travel.
